In the US trading week of 5–9 October, spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $681 million of net outflows, the largest weekly withdrawal since June, according to SoSoValue as reported on 12 October. On Monday 12 October, CoinDesk had Bitcoin near $84,050. Those are two facts from two dates.
The week, day by day
- SoSoValue put about $487 million of outflows on 7 October and about $244 million on 8 October.
- Fidelity’s FBTC was about $380 million of the weekly net. Ark’s ARKB was about $207 million.
- Friday 9 October was a small net inflow of about $21 million. That session did not offset the two days before it.
The bounce into Monday happened while US ETFs were closed. A weekend price is not a weekend flow. Monday’s flow print is the one that says whether those funds followed the price.
Keep the prior week separate
Glassnode’s Market Pulse for week 41, published 5 October, still showed a positive weekly ETF netflow of about $208 million, down 87.7% from the week before, and an ETF MVRV near 1.5. That is the week before the $681 million outflow week. Mixing the two makes a quiet inflow look like last week’s result.
Beside a CryptoCrispy plan
An outflow week is a reason to keep the size you already published. It is not a reason to turn a Hold into a Buy because spot bounced over the weekend. US inflation data is due 14 October. Read the card after that print, and read the flow with its own date.
The price path around $85,000 is in a rally running light.
Takeaways
- 5–9 October was about $681 million of ETF outflows, the largest week since June.
- Bitcoin near $84,000 on 12 October is a later price, not a confirmation of those flows.
- Keep last week’s outflow separate from the prior week’s smaller inflow.
